Awaken Children Vol 2: http://us.st12.yimg.com/us.st.yimg.com/I/yhst-48623381281812_2049_701754
Loving obedience to the Guru is the meaning of "self surrender" as told by Amma (Mata Amritanandamayi). And yet how does one always know what that surrender might be, or what path to follow to best please God? In Volume 2 these questions are addressed, including how to surrender to the guru, and how to purify ourselves to understand the paths we are to take. Some additional topics are: where does happiness come from; fruits of actions can be overcome; effects of former births; what is sin; self effort and grace; mantras; different paths; vows; and faith. These teaching conversations and dialogues between Amma and her devotees take place from December 1983 through February 1984.

Awaken Children Vol 3:
Whenever Amma speaks to us, it is from the exalted state of sahaja samadhi, the natural state of abidance in the Absolute Reality. It is compassion, and compassion alone, which prompts her to speak to her children about the indescribable state of Perfection. Volume 3 contains Amma's teaching conversations and dialogues with devotees from February 1984 through April 1984. Some of the topics covered are: what is the place where Mother is not; Mother and God are One; Bhava Darshan; Brahman; purification of departed souls; the nature of the mind; concentration and love; faith and sadhana; the bliss of singing bhajans; ashrams; and the Kali principle.

Awaken Children Vol  4:
Rebirth--death of the old and birth of the new--a new life, a new vision...this is the real boon of a mahatma, or an enlightened master. Mahatmas like Amma want everyone to experience this everlasting peace and joy. It's their wish that everyone should experience their oneness with creation, and they strive to accomplish this goal. Volume 4 contains Amma's teaching conversations and dialogues with devotees from April 1984 through June 1984. Some of the topics covered are: spiritual qualities of women; beyond duality; receiving the Guru's prasad; suffering of the poor; work in praise of God; believers and non believers; innocent faith and how to study the scriptures; concentration and meditation; formation of qualities in children; family life as an ashram; as well as spiritual love and worldly love.

Awaken Children Vol 5:
Volume 5 focuses on sadhana, or spiritual practices, and how we can use them to control the mind and subdue the ego. Some additional topics covered are: working with love; heart and intellect; stillness of mind; praying and crying to God as meditation; right attitude; sadhana and destiny; reducing your ego; courage; surrender; discrimination; and compassion. This volume contains Amma's teaching conversations and dialogues with devotees from July 1984 through August 1984.

Awaken Children Vol 6:
One of the main subjects in Volume 6 is the complex subject of karma, the spiritual law of cause and effect. Amma says, "This circle will continue until you stop reacting to the present, which is the effect of the past. When you can accept present experiences as inevitable, as the consequences of your own actions and face them without any thought of anger or revenge, then the circle of Karma will stop moving." Volume 6 contains Ammachi's teaching conversations and dialogues with devotees from July 1984 through October 1984. Some of the topics covered are: the art of dying; delusion by ego; the theory of karma; contentment; respect for all life; self-centeredness; the child within; study of scriptures; as well as forgiving and forgetting.

Awaken Children Vol 7:
This book is the essence of Vedanta, the philosophy that affirms the oneness of all existence and the divinity of the soul. Simply reading this book becomes like a meditation on Vedantic truth and is a powerful way to reconnect with that ancient knowedge. Additional topics covered in Volume 7 are: the mind is mad; the state of witnessing; attachment is a disease; the three types of students; religion and spirituality; learning to conquer boredom; and the courage to surrender. Volume 7 contains Amma's teaching conversations and dialogues with devotees from October 1984 through January 1986 (with a few exceptions). All the conversations have been faithfully recorded by her senior disciples.

Awaken Children Vol 8:
This volume focuses on family life and relationships. Amma says, "Children, as ordinary human beings, everyone has both good qualities and bad qualities. Always try to recognize and admire the good qualities in each other." Some of the topics covered are: relationships; motherhood; married life; the sign of a true relationship; real growth and maturity; living according to your dharma; respect without love creates fear; the art of relaxation; spontaneity; and loneliness. Volume 8 contains Amma's teachings during the year 1986. All the conversations have been faithfully recorded by her senior disciples.

Awaken Children Vol 9:
This final volume in the Awaken Children series! is an intriguing account of the conversations between Amma and her devotees during her First World Tour. The year 1987 marked a turning point in her mission of spreading the message of love, compassion, and peace to mankind. As she and her devotees began to travel the world, the nature and focus of their conversations took a distinct turn. From San Francisco to Austria Volume 9 focuses on the issues that devotees were faced with as they tried to reconcile being within the world and still focusing on the ultimate goal of self-realization.

The Brahmasthanam:
As Amma says, instead of Prema Bhakti (pure devotion), what we usually see today is kamya bhakti (devotion with a motive). For these reasons, today's temple worship is inadequate even for the eradication of the miseries of past karmas. The concept behind Amma’s immensely popular and unique Brahmasthanam temples in India is to lead us to the state of Self-Realization. This book describes in detail why and pujas and rituals work and what the seeker must do to advance. The book ends with stories of miraculous interventions by God. Amma says, "Your heart is the real temple. It is there that you must install God. Good thoughts are the flowers to be offered to Him. Good actions are the worship. Good words are the hymns. Love is the divine offering."

The Eternal Truth: This book contains the first part of a collection of Amma’s answers to the questions on the principles of Sanatana Dharma, which embodies eternal truths that everyone, irrespective of religion, caste, or culture, can imbibe and adopt in life. These questions were raised by devotees on different occasions.

Eternal Wisdom 1:
In Eternal Wisdom Volume 1 Amma addresses the problems of increasing materialism and shows us way to retrain our minds from clinging to the material world. In this volume Amma continues her dialogues with seekers, refining and exploring the truths illustrated in the first volume. An excellent reminder of the real duties each of us has to ourselves and society at large. The conversations in this volume were recorded during June 1985 to September 1986.

Eye of Wisdom:
With characteristic wit, lively examples, and profound insights gleaned from three decades as Amma's disciple, Swami Ramakrishnanda examines the difference between the way most human beings see the world and the vision of the true spiritual masters. Finally we begin to understand that Amma's vision of oneness is in fact, the essence of spirituality. It is a vision Amma wants for us all, because she knows that berceiving this reality is the only thing that will bring us peace - both as individuals and as a world.

For my children:
From ancient times to the present day an unbroken succession of god-realized souls have taken birth to lead seekers of Truth to their goal. Mata Amritanandamayi, the Mother of Immortal Bliss, or Amma as she is called, is an ideal example of such a teacher and an embodiment of the Divine Mother herself. This book contains selections from her spiritual teachings and answers to frequently asked questions of seekers on topics such as Mahatmas and Avatars, Meditation, Mantras, Food, Celibacy, Love, Anger and the Nature of a Guru. Her counsels are universal and applicable to our daily lives whether we are serious spiritual aspirants, householders or skeptics. Also includes a short biographical sketch of Amma's life.

From Amma’s Heart:
Amma is a saint like no other. For the past 30 years, Amma has dedicated her life to the upliftment of the suffering humanity through the simplest of gestures - an embrace. In this intimate manner, Amma has blessed and consoled more than 30 million people throughout the world. Wherever she travels - be it India, America or Europe - thousands flock to see her. They seek her boundless love and compassion, her comfort and her advice.

This book is a collection of Amma's answers to questions asked during her programs in the West since 1999. Some were asked in a formal setting, but most were asked by those sitting beside her and those resting in her arms as she was giving darshan.
Amma speaks on a variety of topics, including the nature of birth and death, worldly relationship how and why it works, war and peace, and spiritual practices and philosophy. Irrespective of the question, Amma answers in her own inimitable earthy style - full of love of a mother and the wisdom of a true spiritual master, presenting the most esoteric of spiritual truths in a manner so simple that even a child could understand.

Geneva Speech:  The Awakening of Universal Motherhood:
Although it might seem by the title Universal Motherhood that Amma is referring only to an audience of women, Amma's powerful address calls to both men and women - challenging all of us to develop our innate power of love and selflessness- the power Amma calls motherhood. "The essence of motherhood is not restricted to women who have given birth; it is a principle inherent in both women and men. It is an attitude of the mind. It is love -- and that love is the very breath of life. No one would say, 'I will breathe only when I am with my family and friends; I won't breathe in front of my enemies.' Similarly, for those in whom motherhood has awakened, love and compassion for everyone are as much a part of their being as breathing." -- quote from Amma's address. Given upon her acceptance of the 2002 Gandhi-King Award for Non-Violence, this gem of a booklet will inspire, and possibly stir up, both men and women. Additionally, the booklet contains a moving forward by Swami Amritaswarupananda Puri that documents Amma's mission at that year's Peace Initiative.

Immortal Light:
A practical and insightful guide about how to blend spiritual life with home life and family life. More than 150 excepts have been taken on various topics including the significance of marriage, the importance of selfless service, spiritual practice and worship as well as many other pertinent topics. In addition, the section titled "Training of Children" contains practical techniques on raising children in a spiritual manner. One excerpt reads: "Up to the age of five, children should be given a lot of love. From the age of five to fifteen they should be brought up under strict discipline especially regarding their study. It is at that time that life's foundation is formed. Love without discipline will only spoil them. Above the age of fifteen children should be given maximum love, otherwise they may go astray."—Amma

Interfaith Speech: Understanding & Collaborating Beteeen Religions:
On May 2nd 2006, Amma delivered the address "Understanding & Collaboration Between Religions" at the Rubin Museum of Art in the Chelsea District of Manhattan as part of the Interfaith Center of New York's Fourth Annual James Parks Morton Interfaith Award Ceremony. The Interfaith Center of New York (ICNY) bestowed its 2006 award upon Amma for her outstanding work in fostering "intra-religious understanding and respect". "Amma's life is dedicated to acceptance, and there is no greater acceptance than to be hugged," said the founder of the Rubin museum, Donald Rubin, when he introduced Amma. "By reaching out and accepting all human beings through the physical act of hugging, she transcends all religions and political divisions. The acceptance and the love that the act of hugging creates is the healing that we all need. It is the healing that our mothers gave us when we were infants. It is that healing that Amma has given the world." The ICNY was particularily impressed with the massive relief work Amma's Ashram undertook following the 2004 Asian tsunami. When natural calamities occur, people's hearts open up, transcending thoughts of caste, religion and politics," Amma said in her address. Amma also said that a one-word solution for almost all the problems the world is facing today was "compassion" and stressed the importance for all members of all faiths to serve the poor and suffering. In this booklet you will find the beautiful words of Amma's complete speech on this topic.

Jaipur Speech: Infinite Potential of Women:
In this heartfelt address delivered at the Global Peace Initiative of Womens 2008 Summit in Jaipur, Amma focuses on the deterioration of love and mutual respect between men and women. Pointing to specific problems and offering insightful solutions, Amma offers her vision of a world where men and women stop competing with one another and beging climbing, hand-in-hand, to material and spiritual heights. This booklet contains Amma's entire speech.

Sri Lalita Sahasranama with commentary:
The Thousand Names of the Divine Mother is an in-depth exploration of one of the most sacred and powerful of chants- the Sri Lalita Sahasranama. In this scholarly, yet devotional book, each of the 1000 mantras that compose the chant are mused upon and explained. The book also explains some of the history, benefits as well as the powers of this great hymn. A wonderful way to improves one's understanding and feel for the Lalita Sahasranama. "Devi will always protect those who chant the Lalita Sahasranama with devotion each day," Amma says in regards to this chant. She also advises that this chant be recited daily for the relief of suffering.

Lead us to the Light:
Like many of Amma's discourses, Lead Us to The Light takes the form of question and answer sessions between her and her devotees. Some conversations are centered on a particular topic, on other occasions the questions posed address uncertainties that arise in the minds of the listeners. Mother gives her responses to all of them. Her only aim is our spiritual progress. Compiled by Swami Jnanamritanada Puri, the topics in this book include: Lord of Yoga, Protector of Dharma, Women and Society, the Master-Disciple relationship, Speaking with Westerners, Nighttime with Mother at the Backwaters, as well as many others. "Questioning is sign of growth taking place in the mind, but if doubts are not removed, they will hinder the progress of the individual, and should therefore be cleared immediately. Only then will the journey forward be possible. The words of a mahatma (great soul) can be fully trusted to free from confusion those who thirst for spiritual knowledge." -- Amma.

Q: Is it possible to enjoy spiritual bliss while still living in this world?
Mother: Certainly. Spiritual experience is indeed something to be enjoyed in this world, with this body, and not something to be gained after death. Spirituality and worldly life are both ingredients of life. One does not exist totally without the other, just as in the case of mind and body. Spirituality is the science that teaches us how to live happily in the material world. There are two kinds of learning. One is the learning required for a job, for work. The other is learning for living. Schooling of the former type will get us a job. But if we want to live in peace and happiness, we need another kind of learning. That is spirituality. That is the knowledge of the mind. Spirituality is thus the practical science of life. It explains the nature of the world and teaches us how to live according to that nature.--An excerpt from Lead Us To The Light.

Living in Harmony:
This small book records the powerful speech on peace Amma delivered at the Millennium World Peace Summit held in New York during the year 2000. In her inspiring and beautiful address Amma explores some of the many issues the world is faced with today including conflict management, world-wide discord and disharmony, and how we can begin to work together for the good of the world. A powerful speech that will challenge your ideas.

Man and Nature:
A classic book for nature lovers - where Amma eloquently conveys ways to love nature, protect it and reap the peace of nuturing it. This little book also contains Amma’s answers to pressing environmental questions presented to her by leading environmentalist, Sam LaBudde, Director of the Endangered Species Project of Earth Island Institute in San Francisco. A powerful book focusing on both the responsibility and the beauty in our relationship with Mother Nature.
"To worship everything seeing God in all is what religion teaches. Such an attitude enjoins us to love Nature as well."-- quote from Amma.

May your hearts Blossom (Amma's address at the Parliament of World Religions):
When Love overflows and is expressed through every word and deed, we call it Compassion. That is the goal of religion. When someone is full of Love and Compassion, he cannot draw a line between two countries, two faiths or two religions. He has no ego. He simply forgives and forgets. Compassion is Love expressed in all its fullness. These words were spoken by Amma at the 1993 Parliament of the World’s Religions held in Chicago, and this book contains the complete and uncut address that she gave at this prestigious event. That year Amma was elected as one of the three presidents to represent the Hindu faith, and she spoke to a gathering of thousands on the great need for love and compassion in today’s world. Swami Amritaswarupananda says this of her speech: "As Amma, the very embodiment of Universal Love and Compassion spoke, a deep peace seemed to permeate the atmosphere. Her speech was intellectually convincing and at the same time it had a tremendous healing power, a great purifying effect. When the address was over, hearts overflowed as people spontaneously rushed towards Amma to receive her darshan. It was a great and unforgettable occasion."

Mother of Sweet Bliss:
A simplified version of Amma's biography that is appropriate for younger readers, this is the true story of Sudhamani, a girl who grew up in a fishing village by the sea in southern India. From birth she was special. She spent hours singing songs to Krishna. She showered compassion on everyone she met and helped them however she could. Since her mother was ill, she had to quit school and do all the housework for her large family. In her teens she spent more and more time immersed in thoughts of God, enduring suffering and complete rejection from her family. Still, she continued her spiritual practices until her oneness with the Divine became obvious to the villagers. Today she is known as Amma or Mata Amritanandamayi to her many devotees. As she tours the world, thousands seek the blessing of her embrace. A wonderful story that will delight your children. 150 pages with black and white illustrations.

My First Darshan:
is a collection of short stories written by fifty-four people about their first meeting with Amma. Writers poignantly share their beautiful and uplifting stories. Representing nearly thirty different countries across five continents, the writers range from young boys and girls to grandfathers and grandmothers. Together their stories beautifully showcase Amma's love and how it transcends barriers of culture, nationality, language, religion, and age. An inspiring collection for people of all ages and backgrounds. Excellent as gift for friends who are new to Amma.

On the Road to Freedom 1:
In this rare and unusual book, one of Amma's senior most swamis tells the story of his own search for spiritual knowledge and self-realization. Swami Paramatmananda's autobiography is an amazing journey into India and its unique spiritual culture. Filled with wonderful stories, advice and anecdotes about the spiritual path, this is a little bit like a travel book for the soul. As we travel with Swami, we meet some of India's greatest contemporary masters, including Amma during the very early years, Nisargadatta Maharaj and disciples of Ramana Maharshi. We also travel the Himalayas, the Ganges, visit some of India's most sacred places and attend ancient and extraordinary rituals. A definite spiritual classic.

Swami Paramatmananda Puri is a senior disciple of the great woman saint of Kerala, India, Amma. He came to settle in her ashram in 1980 after having spent 12 years in Ramana Maharshi's ashram in Tiruvannamalai. Born in America and familiar with the analytical Western mind, yet having fully lived and imbibed Eastern spiritual truths, he is able to present those truths in a manner which is readily understood by everyone. He now lives at Amma's ashram in India.

On the Road to Freedom 2:
Told with innocence, wry humor and genuine insight, this revealing story gives us a first-hand glimpse of the beauty and trials of the path to self-realization. This book takes up the thread where Volume One left off, bringing the reader through Swamiji's first years with Amma in India and his sannyasa (formal initiation into monastic life). Also includes a rare look at Amma in the early years and includes many rare pictures of her. Like Swami's first book this is a definite classic.

Paris Speech: Compassion the only way to peace:
Inspired by the depiction of Amma in Jan Kounen's 2005 documentary Darshan: The Embrace, the French film association Cinema Verite presented Amma with its 2007 Prix Cinema Verite for her contributions in fostering world peace and harmony. Compassion: The Only Way to Peace, is Amma's response to Cinema Verite's request for Amma to deliver an address on the increasing occurrences of war, violence and natural disasters seen in the world today. In the address, Amma presents a realistic and constructive analysis of the current global situation, pointing to specific areas of disharmony and explaining how only a compassionate outlook can bring about their rectification.

Racing Along the Razor’s Edge:
The Hindu scriptures compare the spiritual path to walkng along a razor's edge. Now Swami Ramakrishnananda Puri shows how, with the help and loving guidance of a Satguru like Amma, we can tread this path with relative ease, even racing along the path toward inner peace and ultimately the realization of the Universal Self that all beings share.

Narrated with characteristic wit, lively examples, and profound insights and experiences gleaned from 27 years of living with Amma, Racing Along the Razor's Edge is a wellspring of practical wisdom from one of Amma's senior disciples.

Swami Ramakrishnananda Puri has been traveling around the globe with Amma since her first world tour in 1987. Currently, he spends most of his time visiting Amma's ashrams and centers around the world, giving discourses, leading retreats, and teaching hatha yoga and meditation classes.

Sacred Journey:
Here is an intimate portrait , as humorous as it is profound, through the eyes of a western woman who has served Amma from the earliest days to the present.

Swamini Krishnamrita Prana traveled to India from Australia while just out of her teens on a spiritual quest that soon led her to the open arms of Mother. Through this book, the reader gains insight through the startling clarity of Amma's words and responses in unexpected circumstances. As the disciple is lead and transformed, so too will the reader benefit by the daily example of a Divine Saint and the radiant love in Her wise instruction and gracious compassion.

Secret of Inner Peace:
In his fourth book on spiritual life, Swami Ramakrishnananda delves deeper than ever before into the essential spiritual principles elucidated by his beloved Satguru, Sri Mata Amritanandamayi Devi. Looking at Amma’s life, we learn how to make the most of our own life. even while remaining engaged in our day-to-day relationships and responsibilities, we learn to enjoy the inner peace that is our true nature. With characteristic wit, lively examples and profound insights and experiences gleaned from 29 years of living with Amma, Swami Ramakrishnananda outlines the shift in focus – from the apparent to the Real, the temporary to the Eternal – that is the secret to inner peace.

The Blessed Life:
In The Blessed Life, Swami Ramakrishnananda Puri points out that Amma's blessings and grace are always there for us. However, just as a room will remain dark on the brightest of summer days if we do not bother to open the windows, to become receptive, we may have to make some adjustments in the way we lead our life. With characteristic wit, lively examples and profound insights gleaned from 28 years of living with Amma, Swami Ramakrishnananda explores the kinds of actions and attitudes that we can adopt in order to allow divine grace to flow into us, making our life truly blessed.

Torrential Love:
Swamini Krishnamrita Prana, Australian by birth, was one of the first women disciples to find Amma. In her second book, she describes spiritual life while living with this God-realized Soul for the past 25 years. She delights the readers with her unique perspective on daily life with Amma, recounting stories and experiences in her intimate and down-to-earth style. She shares some profound insights into the nature of life and love, gathered like pearls from the ocean of wisdom that is Amma.

The Ulimate Success:
With characteristic wit, lively examples and profound insights and experiences gleaned from twenty-seven years of living with Amma, Swami Ramakrishnananda sets out to redefine the concept of success in light of the tradition of the great masters from religious traditions around the world.

Swami says, "People from all walks of life who are considered successful in their respective fields still come to seek Amma's guidance and blessings. Despite their so-called success, they still seek something more. Their worldy success has not given them what they really want: contentment and peace of mind."

In Ultimate Success, Swami Ramakrishnananda points out that as long as we have the desire for something more than we already have, we cannot be considered truly successful. Only if we realize our True Self, which is omniscient, omnipotent, and omnipresent, will we feel truly complete and successful.

Unity is Peace:
This booklet contains Amma's moving address on world peace delivered at the 50th Anniversary of the United Nations in 1995. Translated in its entirety, the speech is filled with powerful ideas, and as always, unshakeable truths. "A drop of water cannot be a river; a river is formed by numerous water drops. It is the joining together of countless drops that creates a flow. The real flow of life lies in unity, in the oneness that arises out of love-." --quoted from Unity is Peace
